6. Cookies, Analytics, and Tracking Technologies
Our Site may use cookies and similar tracking technologies to analyze website traffic and improve your experience. We may use tools such as Google Analytics and Google Ads conversion tracking.
Important disclosure regarding HIPAA and tracking technologies: The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office for Civil Rights (OCR) has issued guidance affirming that healthcare providers must not use tracking technologies in ways that impermissibly disclose PHI to third-party vendors. We take this obligation seriously. We do not use tracking technologies on pages of our Site where PHI is collected or transmitted (such as appointment request forms), and we do not share PHI with analytics or advertising vendors who have not entered into a Business Associate Agreement.
To the extent we use Google Analytics or similar tools, they are configured to collect only anonymized, aggregate data about general website usage. This data is not linked to your identity and does not include health information.
You may disable cookies at any time through your browser settings. Doing so may affect some features of the Site. We also honor Do Not Track (DNT) signals — when a DNT signal is detected, we do not engage in behavioral tracking.
7. Google Ads
We use Google Search Ads to help connect people in Midcoast Maine with our hearing care services. Google may use cookies to measure the performance of our ads (e.g., whether a visit to our Site followed a click on one of our ads). This tracking is limited to general ad performance measurement and does not involve the sharing of health information with Google.
You may opt out of Google's advertising cookies at any time by visiting Google's Ads Settings or via the Network Advertising Initiative opt-out page at optout.networkadvertising.org.
8. Data Security
We implement reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect information collected through this Site from unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure. All data submitted through our contact and appointment forms is transmitted via encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections. We do not store payment information on our servers.
In the event of a breach involving unsecured PHI, we will notify affected individuals, the U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services, and, where required, the media, in accordance with the HIPAA Breach Notification Rule (45 CFR Part 164, Subpart D).

Material changes will be communicated by posting the revised Policy to our Site. Your continued use of the Site following the posting of changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy.
